As part of our membership application process, in certain cases we may utilize the services of London Stock Exchange Group plc, LCH Limited and other companies within the London Stock Exchange Group (“LSEG") to conduct sanctions screening. This screening ensures that applicant entities, and if some cases, their owners, representatives, or shareholders, are not prohibited from membership with Thread Group due to applicable sanctions, to ensure that Thread Group is meeting its compliance obligations under relevant laws and regulations. The screening process primarily involves the collection of information about the entity. However, in certain cases, it may also necessitate the collection and processing of personal information about the entity’s owners, representatives, or shareholders. This personal information may include, but is not limited to, names, dates of birth, social security numbers, addresses, and any other information required for the screening process. The primary objective of this screening is to verify the identity of the applicant entities and assess their eligibility for membership against various databases and watchlists, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The collected information, including any personal data, may be shared with LSEG and its affiliates solely for the purpose of conducting the sanctions screening. The sanctions screening will be ongoing throughout the entity’s membership with Thread Group. As part of that compliance, information collected about an entity and/or the entity’s owners, representatives, or shareholders personal data may be included with personal data from other individuals and/or other organizations in a database. This database will be used solely to check publicly-available screening lists, and no other organization will have access to any personal data. For more information, on how LSEG processes personal information, your rights related to such personal information, and how to contact LSEG with questions regarding such personal information, please review LSEG’s Privacy Statement: https://www.lseg.com/en/policies/privacy-statement.

Thread Group has not in the past, and does not now, sell personal data to third parties, nor does it disclose personal data to third parties for their marketing purposes, nor does it sell or share personal data for targeted advertising.

Your Rights and Choices About Your Information

This section describes mechanisms you can use to control certain uses and disclosures of your information and rights you may have under state law, depending on where you live.

Advertising, marketing, cookies, and other tracking technologies choices:

  • Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies or other tracking technology files, or to alert you when these files are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies or similar tracking files, some Services features may be inaccessible or not function properly. Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that can send a signal to the online services you visit indicating you do not wish to be tracked. Because there is not a common understanding of how to interpret the DNT signal, our Services may not respond to all browser DNT signals. Instead, you can use the range of other tools to control data collection and use, including the cookie controls and advertising controls described in this policy.
  • Promotions by Thread Group. If you do not wish us to use your information to promote our own or third parties' products or services, you can opt out by emailing us at help@threadgroup.org. You can also opt out by logging into your account and adjusting your account settings and preferences or sending us an email stating your request to help@threadgroup.org.

Your Privacy Rights

Thread Group is a Delaware non‑stock corporation and may not be subject to certain state privacy laws. Your rights will depend on the laws of your place of residence and whether those laws apply to Thread Group.

The following section applies only if you are based in a jurisdiction with a data protection law that is applicable to Thread Group and provides individuals with certain rights with respect to their personal data, including:

  • Access and Data Portability. You may confirm whether we process your personal data and access a copy of the personal data we process. To the extent feasible, data will be provided in a portable format. Depending on your state, you may have the right to receive additional information, and it will be included in the response to your access request.
  • Correction. You may request that we correct inaccuracies in your personal data that we maintain, taking into account the information's nature and processing purpose.
  • Deletion. You may request that we delete personal data about you that we maintain, subject to certain exception under applicable law.
  • Opt Out of Using Personal Data for Targeted Advertising, Profiling, and Sales. You may request that we do not use your personal data for these purposes.

Important: The exact scope of these rights vary by state. There are also several exceptions where we may not have an obligation to fulfill your request.

To exercise any of these rights, please email help@threadgroup.org.

If applicable, we will respond to your request within the prescribed timeframes set out by law.

Please note that in respect of all these rights, we reserve the right to:

  • refuse your request based on the exemptions set out in the applicable data protection laws.
  • request for proof of your ID to process the request or request further information.
  • charge you a reasonable administrative fee, where permitted by law for any repetitive, manifestly unfounded or excessive requests.

You may also appeal a decision regarding a consumer rights request by emailing help@threadgroup.org.

If you are not satisfied after we've tried to resolve your issue, you'll be entitled to lodge a complaint with the data protection regulator for your country of residence.

Some browsers and browser extensions support the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") that can send a signal to process your request to opt out from certain types of data processing, including data "sales" as defined under certain laws. When we detect such a signal, we will make reasonable efforts to respect your choices indicated by a GPC setting as required by applicable law.

Where EU or UK data protection laws apply, we process personal data based on one or more of the following lawful bases:

  • to perform a contract with you or your organization (e.g., membership administration);
  • our legitimate interests in operating Thread Group as an industry consortium and providing member benefits;
  •  your consent, where required (e.g., marketing communications, optional demographic data);
  • to comply with our legal obligations

Cross-Border Data Transfers

Thread Group is headquartered in the United States, and any personal data we collect will be processed and stored in the United States. By accessing our services or providing your information, you acknowledge and agree that your personal information may be transferred to, and processed in, the United States, which may not offer the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction.

Where required by applicable law, Thread Group implements appropriate safeguards to protect personal information transferred internationally. Some of our U.S.-based service providers participate in the EU‑U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension, or the Swiss‑U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Where applicable, we rely on these certifications, Standard Contractual Clauses, and other lawful transfer mechanisms for cross‑border data transfers.

You can obtain further information about the safeguards in place for your international transfers of personal data by visiting us at https://threadgroup.org.

How We Protect Your Personal Data

We use commercially reasonable administrative, physical, and technical measures designed to protect your personal data from accidental loss or destruction and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no website, mobile application, system, electronic storage, or online service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal data transmitted to, through, using, or in connection with the Services. In particular, email, texts, and chats sent to or from the Services may not be secure, and you should carefully decide what information you send to us via such communications channels. This means that we consider our legal and business obligations, potential risks of harm, and nature of the information when deciding how long to retain personal data. At the end of the retention period, personal data will be deleted, destroyed, or deidentified.

Membership records are retained for the duration of your organization's membership and for a reasonable period thereafter to maintain organizational history and fulfill contractual or legal obligations. Financial transaction records are retained for the period required under applicable tax and financial laws. Event attendance records and collaboration participation logs may be retained as part of Thread Group's operational and technical-development history.

Details of our retention practices for specific categories of data are available on request by contacting us.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, and we will provide notice of any such changes to the policy as required by law. The date the Privacy Policy was last updated is identified at the top of the page. We will notify you of changes to this policy by updating the "last updated" date and posting the updated policy on the Services. We may email or otherwise communicate reminders about this policy, but you should check our Services periodically to see the current policy and any changes we have made to it.
