PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Halfway into the year, it is clear that the world has started embracing more in-person meetings and conferences. Thread Group held its first in-person all members meeting since 2019 this April in Charlotte, North Carolina. Company travel policies and individual safety choices made for a modest participation for the meeting in Charlotte, yet we are incredibly grateful to have offered both in-person and virtual options. We had a total of 24 member companies participating and 65 registrations. I want to thank everyone who made efforts to participate and provide feedback. Our next all members meeting will be held in Málaga, Spain from October 24th - 27th, registration and event details will be sent out soon.

Thread membership continues to grow and we are now 130 members strong. A big welcome to Golioth, Häfele SE & Co KG, Rafael Microelectronics, Inc., RivieraWaves, a CEVA Company, and Rollease Acmeda. We have seen a steady growth in the contributor membership tier, which is a great testament that companies want to play a key role in driving the specifications. There is also steady growth in members across all regions and our membership is now represented by 49% of companies from the Americas, 37% from Europe and 14% from Asia.

We are also continuing to see an increased interest in Thread in China. To cater to that interest, we launched the Thread Group China Regional Marketing Chapter, under the Marketing Committee led by Sujata Neidig. HooRii Technology, along with other smart home technology innovators and Thread Group members, including Google, NXP Semiconductors and Silicon Labs, are among the initial contributors. The China Regional Marketing Chapter will be driving many of the marketing activities to educate, promote, and drive awareness and adoption of the Thread protocol across the country. I look forward to nurturing the interest in Thread in China and seeing amazing products from that region.

Certifications continue to grow and we now have over 65 Built on Thread certified products and over 55 certified components. The pipeline for certifications is extremely robust and we at Thread Group are planning to scale our certification program in preparation for the Matter launch coming this fall.

I couldn’t be more optimistic about Thread and the potential it has in the residential and commercial automation markets. I look forward to continuing our collaboration with all the member companies and keep the momentum going for Thread.
