I hope this continues to find each of you, your families, and your colleagues well and healthy amidst the ongoing global pandemic.
Thread Group continues to operate and connect virtually with a number of exciting highlights since our last newsletter.
First, we added eleven new members to our ranks. We welcome Allegion, Eve, Watts, Carrier, Espressif, Safran, Envio, San Jose State University, Iowa State University, Mediatek, and Leipzig University of Applied Sciences and the engagement they bring to the Thread Group.
Second, on the adoption front, we added eleven new Thread Certified components and two new Built on Thread certified products. Components include solutions from NXP and Nordic Semiconductor, to name a few. The Built on Thread WideSky Hub end product emphasizes the importance of the commercial and enterprise markets. Details on the full scope of Thread Certified products and components will be made available on the Thread website.
We continue to be excited about or industry collaborations, whether with the Digital Illumination Interface Alliance (DiiA) to collaborate on running the popular and pervasive DALI commercial lighting protocol over Thread or with our long-time partners Zigbee Alliance, Open Connectivity Foundation, KNX Association, and BACnet International aligning through IP-BLiS to promote the Internet Protocol as a secure backbone for building automation worldwide.
Finally, we were thrilled to engage with many of you through virtual events in the last quarter. Hundreds of you participated in both our highly-attended and -engaged “IoT Convergence with Thread and Project CHIP” webinar and our first ever virtual members meeting.
We look forward to engaging with you virtually.
Stay healthy! Best Regards, Grant Erickson President Thread Group
