After three years of collaborative work from our membership, it was a pleasure to announce the Thread 1.2 Specification to the marketplace and with it, the new and exciting use cases which it enables. An even greater pleasure was to see the positive press reaction to the announcement, reinforcing the convergence and interoperability messages that the Thread Group has long advocated.
The announcement is just the first step in bringing Thread 1.2 to life. Our colleagues in the Certification Committee and Test and Validation Working Group will continue to drive this effort in the coming months, along with our partners and authorized test labs, to complete the Thread 1.2 Certification Program. At that point, we will truly be ready to go-to-market with Thread component and product solutions.
In the interim, we trust all of you are leveraging the strong base of Thread 1.1 Specification and our ongoing backward compatibility commitment to develop and deploy solutions based on Thread 1.1.
Finally, participating in the bi-monthly Marketing Committee and Use Case Work Group calls led by Sujata Neidig, is an exciting way to hear and see the market-focused feature and use case proposals for “Duckhorn”—the new internal working name for our Successor Specification—being brought to life by our members.
I look forward to seeing you in Zug, Switzerland at the next Members Meeting, hosted by Siemens, November 5-7, 2019!
Best Regards, Grant Erickson President Thread Group
