On behalf of Thread Group, I wish you all a happy new year! 2021 was a phenomenal year for our alliance and it is my pleasure to share our successes and progression with each of you. Our member companies have been key in supporting initiatives to help maximize the opportunities for the adoption of Thread and in the evolution of the ecosystem. I want to thank all the member companies who made this happen.
Our membership has grown over the last couple of months. A big welcome to Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd; Bono AB; Charter Communications; Deutsche Telekom AG; Grimsholm Products AB; Hafa Bathroom Group AB; HooRii Technology Co., Ltd,; KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad; Kubu Smart Ltd.; Latch Systems; Lumi United Technology Co., Ltd.; Qingdao Yeelink Information Technology Co., Ltd.; Secretlab SG Pte Ltd.; Spintly Inc.; University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria Mobility & Energy; and Versa Wireless Inc.
We have over 120 products and components that are now Thread certified and our traction on the certification front has kept the upward momentum we had since 2020, and that is truly exciting news. There is no better metric than end products getting certified to be used and enjoyed by users. Congratulations to all the member companies who participated in making this happen and Tom Sciorilli, Director of Certification at Thread Group for his leadership on all aspects of certification.
A big shout out to Sujata Neidig, Vice President of Marketing at Thread Group and the entire Marketing Committee for all the co-marketing activities supporting DALI Alliance, IP-BLiS, KNX and CSA.
I am expecting 2022 to be another great growth year for Thread Group and I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming Members Meeting, April 26-28 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Best Regards,
Vividh Siddha President Thread Group

2022 will be an important year for Thread in the Commercial domain, as the standard will make its jump into widespread adoption.
Klaus Waechter, Global Standardization Manager at SIEMENS Smart Infrastructure Building Products, leads the Thread Commercial Work Group where the team clarifies commercial use cases, injects requirements of installers and integrators, ensures that the Thread standard meets all the necessary regulatory requirements, develops resources, and leads the overall education and ecosystem development efforts for Thread in the commercial building domain.
This year, several key topics are on the Thread Commercial Work Group’s agenda including defining commissioning tools and border routers for large scale networks, working with formal standardards bodies and regional regulatory organizations to make sure all requirements are met, and shaping the implementation of extensions to increase Thread’s reach and reliability even further in commercial buildings.
Thread Group members are welcome to participate in the Commercial Work Group, and if you are interested in joining the Thread Group, learn about our member benefits here.
